Review Eligibility criteria and determine the Category of your project.
Review the Entry Fees as they relate to your Eligibility and when you plan to submit. Complete the Entry Form (online) and submit the appropriate payment using PayPal (online). |

Step 2 |
|

|
Upon our receipt of your Entry Form and PayPal payment, you will be issued a User ID and Password allowing you to log on and access the allocated work area on the Selection Program server. Using your ID and Password, you may upload an entry along with the required information and may revisit and revise these as many times as you wish before you finally submit it before the deadline. |

Using your ID and Password, you may upload an entry along with the required information and may revisit and revise these as many times as you wish before you finally submit it before the deadline. After submitting, you may no longer make any changes or modifications unless requested by CAF. After committee review, your entry is posted on the Design Selections web site and your submission process is complete. Please review the Submittal Guidelines.
The Bellwether Effect: At the Forefront of Design Jury will review all entries on (Feb. 22, '08) and the winning entrants will be notified on (March 3, '08)

The Bellwether Effect: At the Forefront of Design requires submittal of all material in digital format.
A minimum of 8 and a maximum of 12 digital images sufficient to fully illustrate each entry are required. The site will only display 12 images. Each entry may submit an animation / video in place of some of the images. The animation needs to follow the guidelines as outlined below and can be a maximum of 2 minutes. Submittals with an animation can submit a maximum of 3 images besides the animation.
Any visuals containing identification or logo will be rejected. |

How to Prepare the Submittal Material |
|
|
|
After submitting the online entry form and CAF has received a payment confirmation from PayPal payment, a password to enter the portal will be sent to the participant via email.
Using the password, submitting individuals and firms will be allowed to upload images and text themselves and to adjust the display of their entries until they choose to submit them to CAF and the Jury. Once submitted, the entrys display and content can no longer be altered. The entry will be reviewed and checked for completeness by CAF after which it will appear on the web site for viewing by the Jury Members and the public.

Format & Size for Images |
|
|
|
The digital image files (plans, photos, illustrations) must be in a web compliant format with the extensions .jpg / .jpeg / .gif / .png. Maximum width is 950 pixels. Maximum height is 700 pixels. The recommended minimum in either direction is 600 pixels.
The maximum file size is 200kB (the smaller the file size the faster your project will load in the browser - the recommended file size is around 100kB). |

The name of the image file should not contain any empty space or special signs. Please use letters and numbers (a-z/A-Z), dashes and underscores only and make certain your file has the correct extension (.jpg/.jpeg/.gif/.png/) |

Animations |
|
|
|
The size of the animation has to be 640 by 480 pixels. It can be in either QuickTime (.mov), Windows Media (.wma). The Website team will convert the animation into a Macromedia Flash Video (.flv) it in the work area and gallery of the submitting artist. The Webiste team will reduce the file size of the animation to approsimately 8 to 16 Mb. Please use the contact form to let us know if you want to uplaod an animation for your entry. We will supply you with the necessary information to upload the animation to the server. |

Text Information (Description, Credits, etc.) |

The following text is required for a complete entry:
- Project Description (max. 3,300 characters - i.e. approx. 500 words)
Example of possible paragraphs:
- Context
- Program/Scope
- Budget/Cost
- Special Challenges/Unusual Characteristics
- Solution/Design
- Short Version of the above (max. 1,000 characters - i.e. approx. 150 words)
- Project information including firm or authors name, location, and credits.

REQUIREMENTS FOR WINNING ENTRIES ONLY |
|

|
|
After being notified about the Jury decision, all winners shall work with CAF Executive Director, Miki Garcia, and Organizing Curator, Michael Porter to determine the placement of works for an exhibition at CAF. Winners may be asked to supply their own pedestals, vitrines, or display cases. |
