  Justin Carroll
   

Justin CarrollJustin Carroll (JUROR) is the Principal, Executive Creative Director, and Co-founder of Hamagami/Carroll, Inc. Carroll leads the strategic and creative vision for all entertainment-focused clients. His direct client relationships include Medtronic Diabetes, Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products, Mattel, Electronic Arts and LucasArts, and Hasbro. Recent successes include The Simpsons Movie Style Guide for Fox, packaging programs for the Star Wars video games for LucasArts, and licensing style guides for the Thomas & Friends and Bob the Builder properties for HIT Entertainment.

Carroll has been an instructor at Art Center College of Design, CA and Otis Art Institute, CA. He has also served as Vice President of the Los Angeles Chapter of AIGA, and was formerly on the Board of Directors for the Prints & Drawings Council of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

   
  Hilary Nagler
    Hilary NaglerHILARY NAGLER (JUROR) is the Studio Proprietor at the Santa Barbara-based Design Within Reach.  The company’s fresh, contemporary aesthetic and strong focus on modern furnishings and accessories makes it one of Santa Barbara’s leading tastemakers.  Armed with infectious enthusiasm and a seemingly limitless range of interests and abilities, Nagler has continually reinvented herself to fill each new opportunity in the design and marketing spectrum.  She earned a degree in communications from Cornell University, Ithaca NY and experienced an early education in guerilla marketing through a brief career in independent film.  She owned a high-end residential interior design firm in New York City for six years, worked as a freelance creative director, and co-founded two highly touted retail companies.
     
  Michael Patrick Porter
    Michael PorterMichael Patrick Porter (ORGANIZING CURATOR) was born in Los Angeles in 1954, and received his Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He is a licensed architect in the State of California with offices in Newport Beach and Santa Barbara. Porter has designed numerous residencies that serve as containers for art including his own home.  Commercial and Institutional projects include Long Beach Anglers Sportfishing Center at Pierpoint Landing, Queensway Bay, CA, The OCC Aquarium Structure, Griffin/Linton Fine Art Gallery, Costa Mesa, CA, and Griffin/Linton Fine Art, Venice, CA.  He has lectured on his work throughout California at USC, UCLA, Cal State Fullerton, Rancho Santiago College, and SCI-ARC. Porter has serve on the Board of Directors of the Orange County Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and was a Founding Director of Libros y Artes de San Juan Capistrano.  Currently he serves as President of the Advisory Board for the University Art Museum at Cal State Long Beach, CA.
     
  William Prindle
   

Will PrindleWILLIAM PRINDLE (JUROR) is the principal of William Prindle Design in Santa Barbara, CA.  His approach to contemporary design addresses the aesthetic and functional aspects of everyday objects.  His firm assists domestic and international clients in developing new products from concept through manufacture. During the last 20 years, more than 1,000 of Prindle's designs have been put into production. His client list includes firms in Belgium, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico and Taiwan, as well as in the United States.

After receiving his master’s degree in industrial design from Rhode Island School of Design Providence, RI, he worked as a designer and design manager for several major International companies in Italy and the United States before establishing his own firm.  Prindle has published numerous articles on design trends and glassmaking techniques, and delivered lectures and workshops on glassmaking and product design.  His design work has been displayed in exhibitions and featured in books and publications such as Design in Plastics and Product Design 2, Architectural Record, Décor, ID, Interior Design, Metropolis and The New York Times.
     
  J. Morgan Puett
    J. Morgan PuettJ. MORGAN PUETT (JUROR) is a trans-disciplinary artist and cultural producer and the 2004 recipient of Anonymous Was A Woman Award.  Her work negotiates the intersections of history, sociology, economics, and architectural practices, forging new territory by intervening into the fashion system with an early series of conceptual retail installation projects.  Puett is an active member in the Spurse collective and Spurse Design and has collaborated with Mark Dion, David Lang, Suzanne Bocanegra, and others. She travels, lectures, and teaches extensively and has exhibited in such esteemed venues as The Serpentine Gallery & Victoria and Albert Museum, London; Christine Burgin Gallery, NYC; American Fine Arts Co., NYC; The Fabric Workshop and Museum of Philadelphia; and Spoleto, USA, Charleston, S.C.  Her work is now in the collection of The Tate Modern. She is currently in collaboration with Lain Kerr in an ongoing project, That Word Which Means Smuggling Across Borders, Incorporated (An Ex-Ode to the Corporeal Conversation) and is represented by Alexander Gray and Associates, New York, NY.
     
  Joe Shea
    Joe SheaJOE SHEA (JUROR) was born and raised in Boston, MA.  Constant surroundings of punk rock, religious iconography, and Celtics pride are what have inspired his artistic enterprise.  Shea graduated from the Art Institute of Boston, MA while creating handbills and posters for local punk rock shows.  He relocated to the West Coast to design sneakers and posters for rock shows along the California Coast.  Shea built his multifaceted career as a sneaker designer, poster artist, puppet fabricator, illustrator, and muralist, working in narrative and surreal themes.  Shea is influenced by folk and decorative art.  For the past six years, J. Shea has been creating his work in his Los Angeles studio and extensively exhibiting mixed-media art in American cities including Los Angeles, CA, San Francisco, CA, Atlanta, GA, New York, NY, Portland, OR, Seattle, WA, Miami, FL, and Austin, TX.
